George Gibbs Elementary School is just up the street from Christ Community in northwest Rochester.
Christ Community partners with Gibbs School to help some of the kids from low income families that struggle with having enough food to eat. Channel One delivers the food, we pack the food into backpacks for the kids, take the backpacks to the school, and the kids take it home over the weekend. Packing is on Wed nights at CCC during the school year. It's a great way for a family or small group to serve others together.
Another great ministry that we have at Gibbs School is Kids Hope USA. We match adult mentors with children from the school that need help with schoolwork, the encouragement of a friend, and the courage to believe in themselves. It's only an hour a week and can make a big difference in the lives of the kids.
